About the Role

We need a Retail Manager who can actually run a site — not just hold the title. You’ll control operations, people, stock, fuel, compliance, costs, and the customer experience. The job demands leadership, clear decision-making, and a real grip on retail operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, roster, coach, and manage staff to deliver strong results in safety, service, and sales.
• Oversee daily site operations: forecourt, store, and any food/coffee offerings.
• Monitor and manage fuel levels, store stock, ordering, receiving, and wastage control.
• Execute local marketing, promotions, and customer-driven initiatives to lift sales.
• Maintain high customer service standards and resolve issues quickly and professionally.
• Own the site’s performance: sales, KPIs, labour costs, expenses, and profitability.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, fuel handling, and food safety requirements.
• Oversee cash handling, reconciliations, banking, and accurate back-office records.
• Maintain merchandising standards, planograms, and seasonal displays.
• Recruit, train, and onboard new team members while developing existing staff.
• Monitor competitor activity in the Gympie area and adjust pricing or product mix when necessary.
• Coordinate with suppliers and service providers for consistent stock supply and equipment maintenance.
• Implement strong loss-prevention processes and investigate discrepancies.
• Work across early, late, weekend, and public holiday shifts as operational needs require.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 1 year in a retail supervisory or management role (fuel or convenience experience is a big plus).
• A qualification equivalent to an Australian AQF Diploma or higher in Business, Retail Management, Hospitality, or a related field
• Demonstrated leadership ability: recruiting, rostering, coaching, and performance management.
• Strong operational awareness with proven results in sales and KPIs.
• Solid experience in stock management, ordering, and fuel level monitoring.
• Confident and accurate with cash handling, reconciliations, POS systems, and back-office tools.
• Strong understanding of safety, fuel handling, and food safety compliance.
• Customer-first mindset with clear communication and practical problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility with shifts depending on site requirements.
